Masters

Course Title: Master of Science in Applied Environmental Science (General)
Course Code: AS7-11-23

ECTS: 90 ECTS

Course details

Mode: Blended
The Master of Science in Applied Environmental Science takes an interdisciplinary approach into the investigation of processes that control the earth and its environment. The programme will deliver all necessary knowledge and skills to seize opportunities presented by new developments in areas such as global cycles, biogeochemistry, sustainable technologies, waste and water treatment, environmental pollution assessment and remediation, and natural hazard. Students will be exposed to a wide variety of environmental issues, with topics related to the analysis, understanding and management of human-environmental systems by exploring the basics of system analysis and ecosystem theory. By understanding human-environmental interactions through land-use conflicts between agriculture, environmental protection, urban expansion, water management, tourism etc., students will be able to link advanced methods of system analysis and ecological modelling with modern methods of natural resource management. Issues associated with the relationship between material/energy resources, the environment and sustainable development will be a recurring theme in this programme.

Il-Master of Science fix-Xjenza Ambjentali Applikata juża metodu interdixxiplinarju flinvestigazzjoni tal-proċessi li jikkontrollaw id-dinja u l-ambjent tagħha. Il-programm se jagħti l-għarfien u l-ħiliet kollha meħtieġa biex l-istudenti jaħtfu l-opportunitajiet ippreżentati minn żviluppi ġodda f’oqsma bħaċ-ċikli globali, il-bijoġeokimika, itteknoloġiji sostenibbli, it-trattament tal-iskart u tal-ilma, il-valutazzjoni u r-rimedju tattniġġis ambjentali, u l-periklu naturali. L-istudenti se jkunu esposti għal varjetà wiesgħa ta’ kwistjonijiet ambjentali, b’suġġetti relatati mal-analiżi, u l-immaniġġjar tas-sistemi umani-ambjentali billi jesploraw il-bażi tal-analiżi tas-sistema u t-teorija tal-ekosistema. Billi jifhmu l-interazzjonijiet bejn il-bniedem u l-ambjent permezz ta’ kunflitti bejn l-użu tal-art u l-agrikoltura u l-protezzjoni ambjentali, l-espansjoni urbana, l-immaniġġjar tal-ilma, it-turiżmu eċċ., l-istudenti jkunu jistgħu jgħaqqdu metodi avvanzati ta’ analiżi tas-sistema u mudellar ekoloġiku ma ‘metodi moderni ta’ ġestjoni tar-riżorsi naturali. Kwistjonijiet assoċjati mar-relazzjoni bejn ir-riżorsi materjali/enerġija, l-ambjent u l-iżvilupp sostenibbli se jkunu tema rikorrenti f’dan il-programm.
