The Qualitative Research Conference is taking place from 10th to 12th November 2025. This year’s conference, organised by the Applied Research and Innovation Centre, is themed “Bridging Disciplines: Qualitative Research Across Fields.”
Now in its fourth edition, the conference has grown into a truly international event, featuring over 30 presenters from diverse backgrounds representing a number of countries and institutions. The conference serves as a vibrant platform for researchers, practitioners, and students to explore the versatility and impact of qualitative research across a wide range of disciplines.
The 2025 programme spans four interconnected areas: Interdisciplinary Innovations in Qualitative Research, which explores new methodological approaches that transcend traditional disciplinary boundaries; Qualitative Research in Education, Social Sciences, and Policy, which focuses mainly on the use of qualitative methods to inform education, social development and policy-making; Business, Media, Arts, and Cultural Perspectives in Qualitative Research, which examines mostly meaning-making and creativity within cultural and organisational contexts; and Technology, Healthcare, and the Human Experience in Qualitative Research, which includes, but is not limited, how technology and health intersect with lived human experiences.
This year’s keynote speakers are Professor Elaine Keane, from the University of Galway, Ireland, and Dr Stefan Rädiker, Research Methods Consultant, Germany. Professor Keane’s research focuses on social class and education, teacher diversity, and constructivist grounded theory, while Dr Rädiker specialises in computer-assisted and AI-assisted qualitative data analysis.

The week’s activities will continue with the Research and Innovation EXPO as MCAST continues to strengthen its research collaboration, innovation, and critical inquiry while positioning the College as a hub for qualitative research and interdisciplinary exchange within Malta and beyond.
