MCAST has received a wide range of feedback from entities and individuals following the launch of the public consultation on the draft MCAST Vision Towards 2030 Strategic Plan. The consultation, which opened on 29 September until 17 October, has drawn responses from students, staff, policy makers, employers, social partners, and members of the public.
The draft strategic plan sets out MCAST’s vision for building a future-ready, inclusive, and innovative College for Malta. It outlines the institution’s priorities towards 2030 and seeks to strengthen vocational and professional education as a cornerstone of Malta’s continued social and economic development.
The Strategy is closely aligned with Malta’s national policy frameworks, including Envision 2050, the Malta Education Strategy 2024–2030, the National Employment Policy, the Malta Digitali Strategy, and the National Energy and Climate Plan. Through this alignment, MCAST reaffirms its role in supporting national objectives to deliver a more skilled, adaptable, and resilient workforce.
The draft plan focuses on five main pillars: creating a future-ready learning experience that is flexible, skills-driven, and industry-relevant; promoting vocational pathways to raise the profile of technical and professional education; harnessing technology through digital transformation and innovation; strengthening governance, transparency, and accountability; and enhancing collaboration with industry, government, community partners, and international institutions.
Key objectives include continued investment in modern infrastructure and digital learning environments, embedding work-based learning as the foundation of all training programmes, expanding opportunities for applied research and sustainable innovation, and strengthening partnerships at local, regional, and European levels.
The level of engagement shown is encouraging, and the feedback received will help shape the future of education and skills in Malta. Feedback from this process will inform the final version of the Strategy, which is expected to guide the College’s development over the next decade.
