The Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology (MCAST) has published a new edition of its magazine, MCASTlink, fully dedicated to one of the most vital themes of our time: wellbeing. As awareness around mental and physical health continues to grow, this publication reaffirms MCAST’s commitment to creating a supportive, inclusive environment for both students and staff.

This latest edition brings together a collection of initiatives, services and personal reflections that showcase the College’s holistic approach to wellbeing. It highlights the crucial role of the MCAST Wellbeing Centre and the Student Liaison Office—two key services that ensure every member of the College community feels safe and supported  throughout their journey.

Wellbeing is explored from diverse angles across the publication. Topics include the importance of social support networks and friendships, the healing power of art and performing arts and the sense of strength and peace that spirituality can provide. The edition also reflects on the value of connecting with nature, the benefits of animal-assisted activities, and the essential role of equality and inclusion in fostering a healthy community.

Among the key highlights is the launch of the Youth Hub—a newly created space designed to give students a place to relax, exchange ideas, organise activities and collaborate on projects. More than just a physical environment, the Youth Hub represents MCAST’s ongoing investment in student wellbeing and community-building.

MCAST staff have also contributed to the edition, sharing initiatives that nurture wellbeing in the workplace. From team-building activities to wellbeing events coordinated by the Corporate Social Responsibility team and the MCAST Social Committee, the focus on connection, relaxation and belonging remains central.

“This edition is not only a celebration of the work already being done, but an invitation for everyone in our community to prioritise wellbeing in all its forms,” said Caroline Balzan, editor of MCASTlink. “At MCAST, we are committed to fostering a culture of care, empathy and resilience.”

The new edition is now available for download on the official MCAST website.
