The Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology (MCAST) is inviting prospective students, families, and members of the public to two upcoming Open Days on 20 and 22 June 2025, offering a hands-on look at its wide range of courses, facilities and career support services.
The main event will take place at the MCAST Paola Campus on Friday, 20 June, running from 5 pm to 9 pm, with a second Open Day focusing on the creative arts to follow at the Mosta Campus on Sunday, 22 June.
The events are designed for individuals considering full-time or part-time study in the 2025–2026 academic year, as well as those exploring career changes or vocational training opportunities.
Visitors to the Paola campus will have the opportunity to explore the college’s seven institutes, attend talks, tour the facilities and speak directly with lecturers and guidance staff.
At the MCAST Resource Centre, information talks at 5:30 pm (repeated at 7:00 pm) will guide admissions, course selection and new offerings, including recently launched programmes at the Institute for the Trades and the Centre for Learning and Employability. Individual career guidance sessions will run throughout the evening, alongside information desks offering support for apprenticeships, Erasmus+ exchanges, research initiatives and inclusive education.
Among this years course highlights is, Malta’s first Master’s programme in Veterinary Studies, which started in 2024 and is delivered in collaboration with the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. This course enables students to train as veterinary professionals locally without the financial and logistical barriers of studying abroad.
Another flagship programme is the Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, introduced in 2024 and continuing this year. It provides a clear academic and professional route for students wishing to enter this vital sector.
A major addition for 2025 is the Institute for the Trades, which will offer foundational courses in textiles, trowel trades, metal works, stone works and more.
The Institute of Applied Sciences will open twelve laboratories for guided tours, showcasing its nursing simulation suites and units in agriculture, aquatics, and animal science.
At the Institute for Business Management and Commerce (IBMC), guests attend subject-specific talks ranging from management and marketing to finance and procurement.
At the Institute of Community Services, taster sessions will give prospective students a feel for training in areas such as early years education, social care, inclusive education, beauty therapy and security.
The Institute of Engineering and Transport is planning a complete programme of interactive demonstrations in the areas of electrical and mechanical engineering. These include an aircraft display, marine engineering simulations, construction workshops and hands-on exhibits in robotics and automation.
At the new building hosting the Institute of Information and Communication Technology, a student projects exhibition will be on display throughout the evening, with institute tours scheduled regularly, as well as an introductory talk and exhibits from industry partners.
Activities coordinated by the Kunsill Studenti MCAST (KSM) will also happen at the Campus main square, and the College’s new youth hub will be open with the participation of Aġenzija Żgħażagħ.
On Saturday, 22 June, the spotlight shifts to the Institute for the Creative Arts at the Mosta Campus. From 5 pm to 9 pm, visitors will have the opportunity to learn more about courses in design, media, journalism, cultural heritage, fashion, performance, and visual arts, with staff and students on hand to answer questions and share insights into student life at MCAST’s artistic hub.
