Participants of the Community College for the Third Age and students reading a Degree in Social Work, Early Years and Vocational Education and Training at the Institute of Community Studies participated in an intergenerational activity as part of the Unit lectured by Dr James Carabott.
The aim of the activity was to bring together persons of different ages, fostering mutual learning, support, and understanding. Participants were given the opportunity to reflect on co-production of thoughts amid pre-conceived ideas on youthhood and old age.
Participants met with Mr Alex Attard – Commissioner for Older Persons, who had the opportunity to discuss these notions and brief audience with the scope and projects of his Office.
Mr Horace Laudi, President of MCAST Board of Governors and Mr Duncan Vella from Centre for Learning and Employability welcomed Mr Attard. The aim of the Programme is to encourage active ageing through a free informal lifelong learning journey to help foster integration within the community and is coordinated by Dr Marisabelle Camilleri.
The session was attended by 40 older persons and 30 ICS degree students.
