A delegation of managing directors from German Chambers of Commerce visited the Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology (MCAST) this week, as part of a fact-finding mission to explore vocational education initiatives and deepen international collaboration. The visit was organised by the Chamber of Commerce of Potsdam.
The eleven-member group, hosted on 7 April at the College’s main campus in Paola was welcomed by MCAST President of the Board of Governors, Horace Laudi, and Principal and CEO, Stephen Vella.
During the visit, the delegation was briefed on MCAST’s strategic role in vocational education and training (VET) in Malta. Discussions centred around shared challenges in the VET sector, as well as the College’s approach to work-based learning and its engagement with industry.
In a keynote presentation, Principal Stephen Vella provided an overview of the College’s student enrolment trends, apprenticeship schemes, international mobility projects, and long-standing partnerships with German industry players. Deputy Principal Dr Mario Cardona expanded on the College’s Institutes and the range of study programmes, while Dr Romina Borg, Director of Apprenticeships and Work-Based Learning, delivered a presentation on the College’s apprenticeship model.
The delegation also toured the campus facilities, gaining a first-hand look at MCAST’s practical learning environments and how they prepare students for the evolving demands of the labour market.
The visit was coordinated by Deputy Director – Policy Analyst Francesca Attard and marked a step forward in fostering stronger educational and industry ties between Malta and Germany.
