The Malta College of Arts, Science, and Technology (MCAST) has announced the line-up for the first edition of KampuSajf. The arts festival is powered by APS Bank under the artistic direction of Stjanu Debono. The line-up prioritises indigenous artistic work in Malta and will serve as an alternative platform to different art forms, including music, literature, contemporary dance, improvised theatre, and animated film.
The festival will be held from 25 until the 28 August at MCAST’s Paola Campus and on the 30 August at MCAST’s Mosta Campus.
Five different productions will be held during the event,
- ‘Zizza u Maria’ is a project covering songs from local alternative bands and musicians.
- ‘Etikett’, by Teatru Malta & Moveo Dance Company
- The ‘Hinge Project’, by Jes Psaila and Sean Borg, is a concert that will preview four new compositions to be recorded as an EP during August.
- ‘Animation Showcase Malta’ is an animation showcasing different short animated movies from Maltese filmmakers covering different animation genres, including children’s animation.
- ‘Il-Frammenti ta’ Saffo’ is a multi-disciplinary project highlighting translated texts from Ancient Greek to Maltese translated by Warren Bartolo.
Stjanu Debono, KampuSajf Artistic Director, said, ‘For this first edition of KampuSajf, we wanted to keep Malta’s grassroots at the heart of this campus festival. This edition prioritised work native to the Maltese islands or done by Maltese artists. This created an alternative platform for artists to showcase their work from various genres, including music, theatre, dance, and film.’
