The Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology (MCAST) has been pleased to announce that KampuSajf 2026: Playgrounds for Emergence has been a success, the event having taken place from 6 to 8 August at the MCAST Institute for the Creative Arts (ICA) Campus in Mosta, and the fourth edition of the festival was organised with the support of APS Bank and curated by artistic directors Elyse Tonna and Justin Galea.

Over the course of three evenings, the ICA Mosta Campus was transformed into a lively venue for contemporary artistic practice, with the public able to move easily among the different performances, installations, film screenings, and live music. The various works were situated in the campus gardens, in the upper parts and in the amphitheater, bringing the campus to life in ways which went well beyond its normal educational role.

The theme this year, Playgrounds for Emergence, focused on the initial phases of artistic creation, specifically, how ideas emerge through experimentation, collaboration, and testing. The program brought together artists, students, and audiences in a shared space, demonstrating MCAST’s dedication to cultural engagement and creative development.

Attendance at the festival was high on all three nights, and the performances and programs received positive feedback from the audiences over the weekend. The range and standard of the program, including multidisciplinary installations, movement, architecture, theatre, and live music, attracted a varied crowd to the ICA Mosta Campus and helped strengthen KampuSajf’s position as one of Malta’s most distinctive summer arts events.

The fourth edition took place to mark MCAST’s 25th anniversary, adding to the significance of a festival that has been growing steadily since it began and still serves as a platform for both emerging and established artists to reach new audiences.
