MCAST launched its 25th anniversary programme on 25 March 2026, marking a key milestone in its growth and role in Malta’s education sector.

At the MCAST Resource Centre, students and staff gathered to mark the occasion. Speakers described the College’s development from its beginnings in 2001, with just over 1000 students, to its current student body of more than 10,000. Over 50,000 people have graduated from MCAST since its founding.

The event also featured the unveiling of the official 25th anniversary branding, designed by students in MCAST’s Bachelor of Arts in Design. Eliakim Gyan Aldea Mercado’s concept was selected as the winner.

MCAST Principal and CEO Stephen Vella said the anniversary was an opportunity to consider the College’s impact beyond statistics.

“Fifty thousand graduates is a significant figure,” he said, “but the real measure is the individual journeys behind it, the students who have built careers, developed skills and contributed in different ways to society.”

Vella announced that the College will introduce its first MCAST College Awards this year, intended to recognise achievements in teaching, student excellence, research and engagement.

MCAST Board of Governors President Horace Laudi described the College as an institution that has “developed alongside the country”, noting that, “MCAST has evolved considerably over the years and its strength lies in its capacity to respond not just to current needs, but to what is coming next.”

The anniversary programme will run throughout the year and includes a series of academic, industry and community events: ranging from conferences for industry stakeholders to open days for research initiatives, sport activities, and creative arts workshops for students.

The launch concluded with a participatory activity inviting staff to contribute to a visual timeline of the College’s development over the past 25 years.
