Malta’s leading higher education institutions have joined forces to showcase the country as a global hub for learning with the launch of Study in Malta at the Osaka Expo 2025.

The University of Malta, MCAST (Malta College of Arts, Science, and Technology), and the Institute of Tourism Studies (ITS) unveiled the new initiative on Friday 18th July during Education Week at the Malta Pavilion.

The platform aims to position Malta as a destination of excellence for international students by promoting the island’s diverse academic opportunities under a single identity.

Speaking at the launch, Minister for Education, Sport, Youth, Research, and Innovation, Hon. Clifton Grima, described the initiative as “a significant step forward in showcasing what Malta has to offer to the world.” He added, “Education is one of the most powerful tools we have to connect people, cultures, and ideas. By joining forces, our institutions are sending a clear message: Malta is ready to welcome students from every corner of the globe.”

The launch in Japan marks the first time the University of Malta, MCAST, and ITS have presented a united front on an international stage. The Study in Malta initiative will focus on strengthening Malta’s presence in key global markets and giving prospective students a clear, cohesive message about the unique opportunities for study on the island.

As demand for internationally recognised and accessible education grows, Study in Malta signals the country’s ambition to become an inclusive and dynamic destination for higher education.
