WATERLINE Ambassadors Network: Driving Digital Transformation in the Water Sector

June 17, 2025 Communications

The WATERLINE Ambassadors Network has officially come to life, following the successful 2nd Ambassadors Network Event held on May 15, 2025. This milestone marks a significant step forward in the WATERLINE project’s mission to push towards a transnational European digital transformation in the water sector through innovative education, cutting edge technology and a strong alliance between industry and education partners.

Since its inception, the Ambassadors Network has grown into a vibrant community of water professionals, researchers, educators, and entrepreneurs at a local level around the participating institutions as cross- European. (Read more about our ambassadors in the WATERLINE newsletter for some personal profiles). Bringing together our network is contributing significant milestones towards shaping the future of water management by promoting for example digital skills, fostering innovation, and building bridges between academia and industry

So far the network has achieved the creation of an international community of digital water ambassadors was established across Europe, fostering collaboration and innovation in the water sector. This initiative launched several collaborative efforts aimed at enhancing digital education and promoting entrepreneurship within the field. Significant contributions were made to the development of the forthcoming Digital Water Curriculum and the Compendium of Capacity Building Outputs, both of which are set to become essential resources for educators and practitioners. Additionally, knowledge exchange was actively facilitated through keynote speeches, interactive workshops, and strategic dialogues held during the network’s first face-to-face and digital events taking place during the last year.

Looking ahead, the Ambassadors Network is focused on empowering local change agents to support digital transformation within their own regions. It aims to broaden its reach by expanding partnerships with higher education institutions, research centres, and industry leaders. To support the development of future water professionals, the network plans to roll out targeted training programs and digital tools designed to enhance skills and knowledge. Additionally, upcoming events will be hosted to foster deeper engagement and facilitate the sharing of best practices across the sector.
