MCAST signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with leading higher education institutions in Kuwait, the Arab Open University (AOU) and the Kuwait College of Science and Technology (KCST) to boost academic collaboration and research initiatives.

The MCAST delegation was led by Principal and CEO Mr Stephen Vella and accompanied by the Maltese Ambassador to the State of Kuwait, Professor Dr George A. Said-Zammit.
The AOU, established in 2002, is a non-profit institution operating across nine Arab countries through a partnership with the UK’s Open University. The MoU focuses on academic cooperation in Computer Science and Business Studies at both student and faculty levels. The agreement was signed by AOU’s Rector, Professor Mohamed Sayed.

KCST, a private university founded in 2016 and regulated by Kuwait’s Private Universities Council, specialises in science and technology education. The MoU outlines plans for joint research and potential collaboration on postgraduate programmes. Key focus areas include the Internet of Things (IoT), Sensors, and Networking; Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Robotics; Nanotechnology and Renewable Energies; and Biomedical Engineering and Environmental Monitoring. The agreement was signed by KCST President, Professor Khalid Al-Begain.

Both institutions provided the MCAST delegation with tours of their campuses and facilities. MCAST will invite AOU and KCST to its upcoming annual Research EXPO and will hold follow-up meetings in the coming weeks to advance the collaboration.

These partnerships reflect MCAST’s ongoing commitment to international engagement and research excellence.
