Brief Description of organisation

GFN is a self-advocacy organisation of persons with intellectual disability. The committee is elected from among the members every three years. There are three volunteers providing the committee with support to conduct the meetings and carry out activities. Every year, during the annual general meeting, group members decide on the activities that they would like GFN to carry out. Most of these are social activities, such as meals for Christmas and Easter, an annual weekend break, cultural tours, Carnival party, an event during the summer, among others.

Type of community work that can be offered to our students

– organising games during parties and other forms of entertainment

– assistance with organising social activities and outings, e.g. picnic or BBQ

– assisting one of the members who has a mobility impairment

– craft work to create small gifts for members
