MCAST Principal and CEO Mr Stephen Vella met with Counsellor Tadahiko Yamaguchi from the Embassy of Japan in Malta, accompanied by Ms Sarah Bugeja, Political and Economic Officer, to discuss educational collaboration and Malta’s role in Osaka Expo 2025. Deputy Director for Policy Analysis Ms Francesca Attard and International Business Development Manager Ms Maxine Micallef were also present.
The meeting highlighted MCAST’s commitment to vocational education and industry-led learning, particularly through the Institute for Trades. Discussions covered Malta’s participation in Osaka Expo 2025 and how MCAST will contribute.
Potential collaborations between MCAST and Japan were explored, including academic exchanges and the Matsumae International Foundation (MIF) Fellowship 2026, a fully funded research opportunity. The meeting also addressed aquaculture education and MCAST’s links with Kindai University and Chiba University of Commerce.
The discussions reinforced strong educational ties between Malta and Japan, paving the way for future partnerships.
