The Malta College of Arts, Science, and Technology (MCAST) participated in the I Choose event organised by the Ministry for Education, Sport, Youth, Research and Innovation (MEYR)  targeting all Year 11s. This was another opportunity whereby students could explore career and educational options as they leave compulsory education. The MCAST career guidance team was present to meet prospective applicants at the event held at the Grand Excelsior Floriana.

MCAST’s outreach campaign focuses on giving useful information to students on the courses available at various levels. With the message ‘Your Route to Success’, the College focuses on empowering students and emphasising the various options available across different sectors.

Director for Outreach Services and Student Affairs, Dr John Bartolo, said, “These activities create opportunities for students to meet guidance professionals and to consider different options. Like the MCAST Open Day activity, during the I Choose event, our team met students and their families who were enthusiastic to understand what learning and career options are available. We must keep building a culture of encouragement, where students have the right information and motivation to help them succeed.”

The vocational qualifications offered by the College include a strong element of work-based learning for students to enjoy practical, hands-on learning in various subjects, including applied science, engineering, creative arts, community services, information, business, finance, and communication technology. The course selection includes courses leading to careers in various key economic sectors, including digital and green jobs, aviation, and maritime. The College offers a variety of options so that students can start at various levels depending on their qualifications and experience.

Students are encouraged to apply by 30 July for courses starting in October.
