MCAST publishes safety guidelines for students and staff

In preparation for the re-opening of the College, MCAST today published its protocol for College safety for students and staff. This is part of the College’s plan to re-open its campuses in Malta and Gozo and welcome new and returning students as well as visitors in October.

The protocol gives general advice and support to all students and staff, including information on appropriate social distancing, cleaning protocols and other measures such as wearing of face coverings and the organisation of learning activities. The plan also includes controlling ways in which facilities and services, including the library and canteen, are accessed.

MCAST will be delivering its vocational and training education courses through a carefully planned blend of socially distanced in-person teaching and online learning. Teaching and learning in classrooms, workshops and laboratories will take place in compliance with the appropriate safety guidance as endorsed by the health authorities.

The health, safety and wellbeing of our College community is our priority. Our approach is based on ongoing consultation with the health authorities and the Malta Union of Teachers. This includes the fine-tuning of several important health and safety aspects of this protocol. The challenge now lies in its implementation, and this will be conducted in close collaboration with the Union,” said MCAST Principal and CEO Prof Joachim James Calleja.
