MCAST receives over 1800 new applications With one more week to go before the closing of applications, the Malta College for Arts, Science and Technology (MCAST) received more than 1,800 new registrations. Including progressing students, over 2,548 students have already registered to start the new academic year at MCAST. MCAST opened its online applications for the coming academic year on 6 July and will close on 7 August. The College’s Principal and CEO Prof Joachim James Calleja said: “This encouraging response with one week to close applications shows that more young people are recognising the value of choosing MCAST and continuing their studies in vocational education and training. MCAST is uniquely placed to offer courses that are relevant to the world of employment. Our work-based learning mindset offers a unique opportunity for those who want or need to work while learning. The College’s robust approach to education and training programmes driven by professional and vocational jobs is yielding encouraging dividends.” With this year’s COVID-19 restrictions at a crucial time during the student recruitment cycle, MCAST quickly adapted its outreach efforts and scaled-up its online offering. The College increased the availability of tele-counselling and online guidance. It also organised seventeen webinars providing information on its different courses and institutes, allowing prospective students to learn about career pathways at a crucial time in their learning journey. MCAST staff is dedicated to developing innovative approaches in vocational education. Students are encouraged to apply by 7 August to secure a place for the autumn term.
