The Award in Vocational Skills (Introductory Level A) supports students with learning disabilities or learning difficulties to acquire the skills to gain and maintain employment or to further their education. Students are trained in one of the following vocational areas: Hospitality and Retail, Office, and Digital Skills. They are also assessed in Key Skills which include Maltese, English, Mathematics, PSHE, IT, Creative Self-Expression, Daily Living and Community Skills and Customer Care and Employability Skills. A work placement experience within the College is also provided according to the vocational area being studied. Before enrolling in the programme, students are required to attend an induction session to assess the suitability of the course and identify the vocational area according to their abilities.

The Award in Vocational Skills (Introductory Level B) is a programme of study following the MCAST Award in Vocational Skills (Introductory Level A) that helps students with learning disabilities or learning difficulties consolidate the skills necessary to gain and maintain employment or to further their education. Students will have the opportunity to further their studies in the vocational area chosen in the MCAST Award in Vocational Skills (Introductory Level A), namely Hospitality and Retail or Office and Digital Skills. They are also assessed in Key Skills, which include Maltese, English, Mathematics, PSHE, IT, Creative Self-Expression, Daily Living and Community Skills, and Customer Care and Employability Skills. A work placement experience in industry is also provided according to the vocational area being studied.

Award in Basic Office Skills (Level 1)

This programme provides the learners with hands-on experience to gain the basic skills required to work in an office environment. Learners need to have a genuine interest in working in posts related to basic customer care and office work. The course tackles both the use of basic office equipment as well as the soft skills required to be able to behave in an appropriate manner in an office environment.

Award in Hospitality (Level 1)

Through this award programme, learners will start to become familiar with the hospitality industry as well as have the opportunity to identify such industries, both locally and abroad. Different roles and duties found within the hospitality industry will be explored, as well as the hierarchy and responsibilities one would have to deal with in such roles. Learners will also discuss and understand the importance of hygiene at work, including personal hygiene, as well as the importance of keeping safe and working in a safe and healthy environment. This would also include being ethical and using adequate etiquette.

Award in Retail (Level 1)

This programme is intended for learners who would like to become familiar with the local retail sector, in particular small retail shops. Learners who apply for this course need to be genuinely interested and willing to work in a post related to the retail sector. Learners will become familiar with the basic business concepts, including the principles of stock management. They will also be made aware of the different types of customers and situations that people who work in a retail environment typically face. To achieve this, learners will be exposed to the importance of and the skills required for good communication, as well as teamwork.
