Gerard Said Pullicino
Deputy Principal of Information Systems and Data Security

Mr. Gerard Said Pullicino is a student of Grounded Theory, currently part of the first cohort of the MCAST D. Res. He has a background in software development, Cloud infrastructure deployment, and Software architecture. A certified AWS solutions architect associate, Mr Said Pullicino also has a degree in Computing and Information Systems from the University of London, as well as a Masters in E.Learning from the University of Hertfordshire.  He was involved in the development and setup of the MVEAR course, as well as the setup of MCASTs educational technology and elearning provisions. He has also been in charge of MCAST’s migration to a cloud hosting environment for critical services, as well as in a support function in developing critical reporting as needed for the organization. As Information Systems Director, he was responsible for implementing a number of changes in the information architecture of MCAST spurring on a new data driven approach within the organization, which does not ignore the critical human element which drives the personal relationships covering team dynamics.

Mr. Said Pullicino is also an enthusiastic amateur mountain biker, and likes to spend Sunday out in the countryside with his wife and one year old son.

Dr Mario Mallia Milanes
Director of Information Systems and Data Security

Mario Mallia-Milanes currently works at MCAST Institute for ICT as a Senior Lecturer.  Before rejoining MCAST he worked as a Senior Consultant with Deloitte Malta, focusing primarily on Robot Process Automation and Intelligent Automation.  He has previously spent ten years as a senior lecturer with the Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology and also contributed to lecturing part-time with the University of Middlesex and the University of Malta.

Mario holds a PhD in Artificial Intelligence, which he obtained through the University of Malta, and focused his research on the use of Agents to collaboratively assist students retain attention and interest in an on-line learning environment.  Moreover, he has published papers and articles both in academic journals and in the local press.
In his spare time Mario collects old military firearms and loves playing chess at club level.
