Course Description

The structure of this programme provides an opportunity to explore a range of construction related disciplines. During the programme, the learners will develop a comprehensive understanding of the disciplines which underpin construction management and the surveying professions. This knowledge will include subjects such as: economics, law, industry practice and building technology. Throughout the programme there will be a strong focus on project work and interdisciplinary collaboration is highly encouraged. The programme leads to the development of specialist knowledge related to construction economics and contract law, with a particular focus on managing costs throughout the project life-cycle from early design through to building completion and beyond. As part of this programme the learners will also complete a dissertation on a research topic of their choice and a quantity surveying project.

Entry Requirements

Internal Progression Route…

  • Any MCAST IET MQF Level 4 Advanced Diploma*, or
  • Undergraduate Diploma in Foundations of Engineering

Or

2 subjects as A-Level passes and 2 subjects as I-Level passes

*Applicants progressing from an IET MQF level 4 programme which does not have a basis in Construction Engineering, will be expected to attend additional sessions provided by the Institute, accordingly

Other notes related to this programme

An Applicant aged 23 years and over, and not in possession of the above Entry Requirements, may wish to apply via the Maturity Clause route.  Applicants under Maturity Clause must still present clear documentation showing that they have a number of achievements in hand together with their School Leaving formal Certificate / document (to confirm their successful completion of compulsory schooling).  Age is not the only eligibility factor in such instances.  Besides documents showing their past achievements, applicants must present a detailed CV using the Europass format, as well as the most recent official JobsPlus Employment History.
