Course Description
The programme is aimed at those students who would ultimately like to work in Civil and Structural Engineering. The aim of this three-year Bachelor’s course is to provide learners with the knowledge, skills and competencies required in the various fields of this profession to the rigorous level necessary. Specific study units include design principles, mathematics, physics, material science and structural analysis, and the programmes have been designed to fulfil the MEng admission Schedule of the University of Malta as per regulations applicable at the time of writing of this prospectus.
The Periti Warranting Board has confirmed that students who successfully achieve their Masters in Engineering from the University of Malta after having obtained their BSc from MCAST shall be recognised by the Periti Warranting Board.

Both the University of Malta and the Periti Warranting Board are autonomous institutions and may decide to change requirements according to their internal regulatory mechanisms. Prospective students who are interested in continuing their studies at the University of Malta or any other institution are therefore responsible for checking the respective entry requirements (including required classification) with the University of Malta or their selected postgraduate institution before starting this MCAST BSc programme.

Entry Requirements
Internal Progression Route…
- MCAST Undergraduate Diploma in Foundations of Engineering (Construction) with no compensatory pass allowed
AND
MCAST Advanced Diploma in Construction Engineering (with an overall mark of 60% or higher)
OR
- MCAST Undergraduate Diploma in Foundations of Engineering (Construction) with no compensatory pass allowed
AND
2 A-Level passes
Compulsory: Mathematics (Pure or Applied) AND Physics
OR
2 subjects as A-Level passes and 2 subjects as I-Level passes*
Compulsory A-Levels: Physics AND Mathematics (Pure or Applied)
Applicants need to obtain an average Grade C across their A-Levels in Mathematics and Physics (such as Grades C, C; Grades B, D; Grades A, E)
*As from Admission 2028/2029, students will not have the possibility for entry into this course with 2 subjects as A-Level passes and 2 subjects as I-Level passes.
Other notes related to this programme
Applicants submitting their application under the Maturity Clause, MUST be in possession of the MCAST MQF level 5 Undergraduate Diploma in Foundations of Engineering, in order for their application to be considered
An Applicant aged 23 years and over, and not in possession of the above Entry Requirements, may wish to apply via the Maturity Clause route. Applicants under Maturity Clause must still present clear documentation showing that they have a number of achievements in hand together with their School Leaving formal Certificate / document (to confirm their successful completion of compulsory schooling). Age is not the only eligibility factor in such instances. Besides documents showing their past achievements, applicants must present a detailed CV using the Europass format, as well as the most recent official JobsPlus Employment History.
