Course Description

The Cybersecurity degree is a 3-year programme that provides students with a comprehensive understanding of concepts, techniques, and tools required to secure software applications, computer systems and networks. Students will increase their proficiency in the usage of open source operating systems, network security, database programming, digital forensics, and offensive security. They will also develop practical skills in mitigating cyber threats.

The programme includes work-based component, whereby one’s own skills are put to good use by working alongside experienced cybersecurity professionals.

Additionally, the programme has a research component, where the student would undertake a dissertation. This applied research will draw on the skills and knowledge gained throughout the course to explore a specific area of cybersecurity in depth.

Graduates of this programme will gain sufficient hands-on experience to thrive in the dynamic field of cybersecurity. The expertise acquired will enable them to pursue careers in the cybersecurity sector, including roles such as cybersecurity

specialists, information security analysts, network security engineers, penetration testers, and digital forensic experts alongside others.

  • MCAST MQF Level 4 Advanced Diploma in IT

OR

2 subjects as A-Level passes and 2 subject as I-Level passes Compulsory A-Level: Computing

AND

Compulsory A-Level or I-Level: Mathematics (Pure or Applied) OR Physics

Other notes related to this programme

Applicants holding an MCAST MQF Level 4 Advanced Diploma in IT, with Multimedia Software Development and iGaming specialist streams, are not really encouraged to take up this Degree Programme.

Information Technology at A or I Level (or similar) is not a substitute for the Compulsory Subject/s as shown in the Entry Requirements for this degree programme.

An Applicant aged 23 years and over, and not in possession of the above Entry Requirements, may wish to apply via the Maturity Clause route.  Applicants under Maturity Clause must still present clear documentation showing that they have a number of achievements in hand together with their School Leaving formal Certificate / document (to confirm their successful completion of compulsory schooling).  Age is not the only eligibility factor in such instances.  Besides documents showing their past achievements, applicants must present a detailed CV using the Europass format, as well as the most recent official JobsPlus Employment History.
