Course Description
The MCAST BA (Hons) in Social Work aims at nurturing social workers with the right knowledge, attitude and skills to fulfil this professional role to the highest standards. The degree will take four years to complete and is hands-on work based learning. During the working experience, educators and employers will support students in linking the world of employment with theory related to the role of social workers. The degree will lead to a social work profession, a career that supports individuals and families in addressing various social issues such as accessing services, providing services in schools, hospital settings or correctional facilities. Social work also targets larger scale interventions through research, working with non-governmental organisations and policymaking. The degree welcomes applicants from MCAST Advanced Diploma in Social Care as well as other learners coming from post-secondary education having obtained the MATSEC level, and those who have been working in social care and wish to further their skills.
