Course Description

This programme gives learners the opportunity to explore two different areas, those of Art and Design. Learners are encouraged to experiment with different media, resistant and non-resistant materials used in the generic disciplines of art, 3D design (product and spatial) and fashion. Learners learn skills using different workshops and related tools and technology, as well as learn the theoretical aspects of various specialist areas, with awareness of health and safety. Another important aspect of the course is the development of the learners’ communication skills.

Internal Progression Route…

  • MCAST Foundation Certificate in the Creative Arts*

OR

2 subjects at SEC / SSC&P / SSQP, or equivalent, with a Pass Grade / Level 3

Compulsory: Art or Art and Design or Textiles and Design or Fashion and Textiles

*Progression is only available for the MCAST Level 2 Foundation Programme specifically mentioned above

Applicants may be asked to sit for an Interview and/or present a Portfolio.

Any possible alternative qualifications (local and European) which may be presented instead of the above clearly set compulsory subjects, must very clearly be evidenced / documented as being equivalent to the set compulsory subjects in terms of Level, volume (in ects credits), and Content coverage. It will not be possible to consider variances, given the expected preparation and foundations in possession of the applicant asking to be considered for this MQF Level 3 programme of studies.

An Applicant aged 19 years and over, and not in possession of the above Entry Requirements, may wish to apply via the Maturity Clause route.  Applicants under Maturity Clause must still present clear documentation showing that they have a number of achievements in hand together with their School Leaving formal Certificate / document (to confirm their successful completion of compulsory schooling).  Age is not the only eligibility factor in such instances.  Besides documents showing their past achievements, applicants must present a detailed CV using the Europass format, as well as the most recent official JobsPlus Employment History.
