Course Description
The Master by Research (MRes) programme provides the student with sound practical knowledge and experience in preparation for a research career, as well as with preparation and training for doctoral research. Students will have demonstrated originality in the application of knowledge, and they will understand how the boundaries of knowledge are advanced through research. They will be able to deal with complex issues both systematically and creatively, and they will show originality in tackling and solving applied research related challenges.

The Master by Research is aimed at students interested in focusing on a particular research area, or interested in receiving sound practical knowledge and experience in preparation for a research career, as well as preparation and training for doctoral research.
Entry Requirements
Applicants must hold a recognised MQF/EQF Level 6 qualification in any area or field of study, with at least 180 ECTS credits and a Second Class or higher, final degree classification.
OR
Applicants must hold a recognised MQF/EQF Level 6 qualification in any area or field of study, with at least 180 ECTS credits, together with clear evidence of a minimum of three (3) years (full time) direct and relevant professional experience in the specific area of research

Applicants will need to draw up and submit a formal Proposal for their Research…. which will be vetted by a Board establishing when or whether applicant can be enrolled and registered on the Level 7 Research programme
In the absence of above entry requirements, applicants aged 27 years and over, can submit an application under the Maturity Clause…. but must present a recognised MQF/EQF Level 5 qualification (minimum of 120 credits), or its equivalent, in any area of study, together with clear evidence of a minimum of three (3) years (full time) of direct and relevant professional experience.
Applicants under Maturity Clause, will be asked to sit for a combined Maturity and Master’s Suitability Interview
