Course Description

The MCAST Postgraduate Certificate in Research Methods (PgCert Research Methods) is delivered through a taught programme that enables students to acquire a sound understanding of research methodologies, ethical research practice and research design. Students develop the knowledge and skills required to identify a research focus, critically review the literature, evaluate appropriate methodological approaches, and formulate an ethically sound research proposal. The programme culminates in the design and piloting of a research project, allowing students to apply research methods using appropriate tools and techniques. It provides students with the practical knowledge and experience required to undertake research within their professional field and establishes a strong foundation for progression to the MCAST Master in Research Methods.

Entry Requirements

Applicants must hold a recognised MQF/EQF Level 6 qualification in any area or field of study, with at least 180 ECTS credits and a Second Class or higher, final degree classification.

OR

Applicants must hold a recognised MQF/EQF Level 6 qualification in any area or field of study, with at least 180 ECTS credits, together with clear evidence of a minimum of three (3) years (full time) direct and relevant professional experience in the specific area of research.
