Course Description
This degree programme deals with construction, operation and maintenance of engines and machinery in ships and marine installations. The learner will gain an understanding of developed and emerging technologies whilst applying theoretical and practical methods in the analysis and solution of marine engineering related problems. At this level of study, one will be expected to develop the qualities needed for employment in situations requiring the exercise of personal responsibility, technical leadership and commercial management in complex and unpredictable circumstances as expected in the Maritime industry.

Internal Progression Route…
- Any MCAST MQF Level 4 Advanced Diploma offered by the Institute of Engineering and Transport, or
- MCAST Undergraduate Diploma in Foundations of Engineering
OR
2 subjects as A-Level passes and 2 subjects as I-Level passes
Compulsory A-Levels: Physics AND Mathematics (Pure or Applied)

An Applicant aged 23 years and over, and not in possession of the above Entry Requirements, may wish to apply via the Maturity Clause route. Applicants under Maturity Clause must still present clear documentation showing that they have a number of achievements in hand together with their School Leaving formal Certificate / document (to confirm their successful completion of compulsory schooling). Age is not the only eligibility factor in such instances. Besides documents showing their past achievements, applicants must present a detailed CV using the Europass format, as well as the most recent official JobsPlus Employment History.
