Course Description
Computer systems and networks are a growth area in today’s business environment due to the fact that there is a strong demand for highly skilled technical persons who can devise original solutions for complex problems in the context of IT and network implementation using modern techniques. This hands-on degree programme is intended for learners who wish to pursue a career in the world of computer systems and networks. In this course learners will be exposed to enterprise network technologies, data centre operations, service provider networks, information security, virtualisation, DevOps and cloud computing technologies. Due importance will also be given to emerging technologies which learners will find being implemented when they start working within the industry. A hands-on practical approach is adopted throughout the course.This course does not entitle the successful candidates to apply for an engineering warrant with the Engineering Profession Board of Malta on successful completion of the course.

Entry Requirements
Internal Progression Route….
- MCAST MQF Level 4 Advanced Diploma in IT, or
- MCAST Advanced Diploma in Electronics (Computer Engineering)
OR
2 subjects as A-Level passes and 2 subjects as I-Level passes
Compulsory A-Level: Computing
AND
Compulsory A-Level or I-Level: Mathematics (Pure or Applied) OR Physics
Other notes related to this programme
Information Technology at A or I Level (or similar) is not a substitute for the Compulsory Subject/s as shown in the Entry Requirements for this degree programme.
Applicants holding an MCAST MQF level 4 Adv Diploma in IT which is not specialsied in the Computer Systems and Network stream, will find that they have a weaker foudnation to successfully manage this Degree Programme.
An Applicant aged 23 years and over, and not in possession of the above Entry Requirements, may wish to apply via the Maturity Clause route. Applicants under Maturity Clause must still present clear documentation showing that they have a number of achievements in hand together with their School Leaving formal Certificate / document (to confirm their successful completion of compulsory schooling). Age is not the only eligibility factor in such instances. Besides documents showing their past achievements, applicants must present a detailed CV using the Europass format, as well as the most recent official JobsPlus Employment History.
