Course Description

The Advanced Diploma in Software Development is a practical, hands-on qualification ensuring that learners utilise the most up-to-date practices and current programming languages. This course is the first step towards becoming a software developer. It will provide the learners with the core software development skills along with the necessary knowledge for the design and development of software applications. The first year of this course will be common for all learners following the Advanced Diploma. During the second year of studies learners will focus on Software Development subjects, such as: server side and client side scripting; database design and development; and mobile application development.

Entry Requirements

Internal Progression Route….

  • MCAST Diploma in IT, or
  • MCAST Diploma in iGaming, or
  • Any MCAST Level 3 Diploma, whilst being in possession of the compulsory subjects as indicated hereunder

OR

4 subjects at SEC / SSC&P / SSQP, or equivalent, with a Pass Grade / Level 3

Compulsory: Mathematics

AND

Compulsory: One subject from Computer Studies OR Physics OR Information Technology OR IT -VET OR ICT C3 pass grade at level 3

Other notes related to this programme

In view of Entry Requirements for course, ECDL or ICDL Certification, are not considered as a replacement of any part of the pool of Compulsory Subjects

An Applicant aged 21 years and over, and not in possession of the above Entry Requirements, may wish to apply via the Maturity Clause route.  Applicants under Maturity Clause must still present clear documentation showing that they have a number of achievements in hand together with their School Leaving formal Certificate / document (to confirm their successful completion of compulsory schooling).  Age is not the only eligibility factor in such instances.  Besides documents showing their past achievements, applicants must present a detailed CV using the Europass format, as well as the most recent official JobsPlus Employment History.
