Course Description
This is a two-year full-time programme of studies during which the learner becomes better acquainted with the specialised services offered by different agencies and organisations in the care sector. Lectures deal with delivering personal care, sociological and psychological perspectives in care, legislation, communication skills and health practices. Lecturers will present scenarios which are dynamic and thought-provoking allowing the learners to be prepared to work in challenging environments dealing with vulnerable individuals. A work-based learning component is included in the framework of this programme.

- Any MCAST MQF Level 3 Diploma

4 subjects at SEC / SSC&P / SSQP, or equivalent, with a Pass Grade / Level 3
Other notes related to this programme
Prior to embarking on a Work Placement (successful completion of which is an integral part of the accredited programme of studies, leading to certification), learners need to:
• satisfy the requirements of the Protection of Minors Act (POMA);
• satisfy specific immunisation requirements;
• present a clean Police Conduct Certificate; and
• present a First Aid Certificate which will be valid up to at least successful completion of programme of studies.
An Applicant aged 21 years and over, and not in possession of the above Entry Requirements, may wish to apply via the Maturity Clause route. Applicants under Maturity Clause must still present clear documentation showing that they have a number of achievements in hand together with their School Leaving formal Certificate / document (to confirm their successful completion of compulsory schooling). Age is not the only eligibility factor in such instances. Besides documents showing their past achievements, applicants must present a detailed CV using the Europass format, as well as the most recent official JobsPlus Employment History.
