Course Description
The demand for the conservation and restoration of stone monuments and of historic buildings and artefacts is increasing. Likewise, those who manage projects involving various building materials are in great demand. This course is intended for those who would like to acquire knowledge and skills related to the conservation and restoration of buildings and monuments where the main construction material is the local limestone. They will be able to apply restoration and conservation techniques following best practices, both in College-based workshops and laboratories as well as on heritage sites. This course also provides quantity surveying skills as applied to restoration projects, as well as an introduction to project management, enabling learners to manage technicians working on restoration projects.

- MCAST Advanced Diploma in Masonry Heritage Skills (Mastru), or
- MCAST Advanced Diploma in Cultural Heritage Skills, or
- MCAST Advanced Diploma in Construction Engineering

2 subjects as A-Level passes and 2 subjects as I-Level passes

An Applicant aged 23 years and over, and not in possession of the above Entry Requirements, may wish to apply via the Maturity Clause route. Applicants under Maturity Clause must still present clear documentation showing that they have a number of achievements in hand together with their School Leaving formal Certificate / document (to confirm their successful completion of compulsory schooling). Age is not the only eligibility factor in such instances. Besides documents showing their past achievements, applicants must present a detailed CV using the Europass format, as well as the most recent official JobsPlus Employment History.

During the first year of this course students will be attending lessons in Institute of Engineering and Transport in the Poala campus and in the Institute of Creative Arts at the Mosta campus. During the second year of students will be given the option to choose to continue studying the course Higher Diploma in Masonry Heritage Skills (Kapumastru) or study the course Bachelor in Conservation (Honours) from year 2 of studies. Those students who achieve Higher Diploma in Masonry Heritage Skills (Kapumastru) can continue studying Bachelor in Conservation (Honours) from year 3 of studies to complete a degree.
