Course Description

The photography industry offers very exciting career pathways. The world of photography is an open invitation to all individuals who are keen to frame the world through a critical lens, to be prepared to commit for the ever changing demands of the industry. The degree programme introduces learners to a variety of learning experiences, ranging from professional commercial photography to experimental image making. Learners will familiarise themselves with the basic foundations of image making in still photography, in both analogue and digital formats. They will explore still image recording and finishing for commercial and artistic endeavours using industry-standard equipment. In their final year, learners will be given the opportunity to research and develop their own individual visual language.

Entry Requirements

Internal Progression Route…

  • Any MCAST MQF level 4 Advanced Diploma

OR

2 subjects as A-Level passes and 2 subjects as I-Level Passes

Applicants may be asked to sit for an Interview and/or present their Portfolio.

Other notes related to this programme

An Applicant aged 23 years and over, and not in possession of the above Entry Requirements, may wish to apply via the Maturity Clause route.  Applicants under Maturity Clause must still present clear documentation showing that they have a number of achievements in hand together with their School Leaving formal Certificate / document (to confirm their successful completion of compulsory schooling).  Age is not the only eligibility factor in such instances.  Besides documents showing their past achievements, applicants must present a detailed CV using the Europass format, as well as the most recent official JobsPlus Employment History.
