Course Description
The Master of Science in Applied Environmental Science takes an interdisciplinary approach into the investigation of processes that control the earth and its environment. The programme will deliver all necessary knowledge and skills to seize opportunities presented by new developments in areas such as global cycles, biogeochemistry, sustainable technologies, waste and water treatment, environmental pollution assessment and remediation, and natural hazard. Students will be exposed to a wide variety of environmental issues, with topics related to the analysis, understanding and management of human-environmental systems by exploring the basics of system analysis and ecosystem theory. By understanding human-environmental interactions through land-use conflicts between agriculture, environmental protection, urban expansion, water management, tourism etc., students will be able to link advanced methods of system analysis and ecological modelling with modern methods of natural resource management. Issues associated with the relationship between material/energy resources, the environment and sustainable development will be a recurring theme in this programme.

Entry Requirements
Applicants must hold a recognised MQF/EQF Level 6 qualification, with at least 180 ECTS credits, in any from the fields of Engineering, Environment, Physics, Geography, Biology, or Chemistry.
Applicants found eligible as per above, will also be asked to successfully complete a Master’s Programme Suitability Interview

Other notes related to this programme
In the absence of above entry requirements, applicants aged 27 years and over, can submit an application under the Maturity Clause…. but must present a recognised MQF/EQF Level 5 (minimum 120 ECTS credits) qualification, or its equivalent, in the fields mentioned above in the Entry Requirement section, together with clear evidence of a minimum of five (5) years (full time) of direct and relevant professional experience.
Applicants under Maturity Clause, will be asked to sit for a combined Maturity and Master’s Suitability Interview.
