Course Description
This course is aimed at learners who have successfully completed their studies at the Alternative Learning Programme of the Ministry for Education, and are interested in pursuing further vocational studies at MQF Level 3, related to automotive repair. This course focuses on the knowledge and skills required for eventual employment at assistant technician level in the automotive sector. The combination of practical experience and theoretical knowledge gained by sucessfully completing the course, will equip learners with the knowledge and skills with which they will be able to access the labour market, or alternatively, they will be eligible to continue their studies at MQF level 4 at MCAST, by selecting one of the various Advanced Diplomas offered by the College, in their preferred area of study.
This programme is intended for learners with or without knowledge and experience of the automotive industry. Learners will learn how to work on vehicle accident repair tasks on body work under minimal supervision. The course will also provide the learners with the skills required to carry out paint repairs to the manufacturers’ specifications. They will thus gain a combination of theoretical knowledge and practical skills in automotive accident repair (panel beating) together with body paint principles. Learners will be expected to carry out effective housekeeping practices to work effectively within the automotive industry. They will also learn how to work safely when carrying out removal and replacement of exterior vehicle panels and paint jobs. Learners will also be expected to improve their knowledge of key skills subjects such as Mathematics, English, Maltese, and Information Technology.

Entry Requirements
Applicants are expected to have completed the one-year ALP programme and obtained at least an MQF Level 1 in Maltese, English and Mathematics and an MQF Level 2 in TWO vocational subjects forming part of the ALP Programme
Applicants must present an official document, showing a positive clearance following a Colour Vision Assessment / Test.

Print the .pdf document, and take with you to a either the OHSA Office OR else to an Ophthalmologist / General Practitioner of your choice. This is to be filled in and signed by the Medical Professional Practitioner. Where applicant is under 18 years of age on date of application the parents / guardians must also fill in and sign the parts related to their consent.
Where the programme of studies Colour Vision Clearance, is also a REWS requirement, it is important that the last page of the document you download, will be filled in and signed accordingly (together with the rest of the doc)
A scan of the filled in and complete document is to be uploaded with all the other documents you need to upload when submitting your online application for the course. If this completed (properly filled in) document (duly endorsed and signed by a Medical Doctor / GP and Parents as required) is not uploaded with your online application for this course, the application cannot be processed and vetted for eligibility. It would be as if you have not submitted an application for the course (always by the set Main Call Online Course Application deadline – 25th August 2025)
Later on after that you will receive the Course Acceptance Offer and would have become an MCAST Registered student, the Original hardcopy version of the filled-in and signed document is ALSO to be (physically) submitted at the Reception Desk, Institute of Engineering and Transport, Main Campus, Paola, by not later than the end of the first full week of lectures of the programme of study you would have been found eligible for and considered as a Registered MCAST student.
May we remind that, not submitting a scan of this filled-in document as an upload with your online course application (applications close on 25th August 2025), will make your application incomplete and cannot be processed.
When submitting online application for this course, a scan of the original and official Colour Vision Test result needs to be uplaoded together with all other documentation required.
