Brief Description of organisation
FKNK started on the 17th September 1973, under the name of ‘The National Association of Hunters and Trappers’. Its aim was to preserve the Maltese traditional socio-cultural passions of hunting and capturing huntable wild birds with selective nets for the purpose of keeping the caught birds alive in captivity migratory. On the 22nd June 1998, the Federation for Hunting and Conservation – Malta (Federazzjoni Kaċċaturi Nassaba Konservazzjonisti FKNK) was set up. Amongst its aims, the Federation instructs youths, prospective hunters and trappers on the ethics and practice of the hobbies. The FKNK is the largest NGO in the Maltese islands.
