Brief Description of organisation
“Assoċjazzjoni Wirt il-Kalkara, an enrolled Voluntary Organisation with the Office of the Commissioner for Voluntary Organisations (VO/1440), has been established during the year 2017 with various aims, including:
• The conservation and enhancement of the social, cultural, artistical, religious and traditional identity of Kalkara, especially through its promotion locally, nationally and internationally.
• The organization of activities and events aimed towards public education.
• The management and financing of projects in Kalkara, including new initiatives and restoration of historic sites.
• Assistance to local associations through events and projects in accordance to current requirements.
• Activities for members and the general public.

Throughout its few years of existance, the Association managed to place on the national agenda the urgent restoration requirements of Fort Ricasoli, whilst submitting reports on various aspects concerning Kalkara and its environment. During 2019 the Association supported crowd-funding for a sea-bin in Kalkara Creek and inaugurated a monument in honour of a lengend related to the Great Siege of Malta. Assoċjazzjoni Wirt il-Kalkara is the voice of the residents and all those who yearn for Kalkara’s best.”
