Gerard Said Pullicino
Director of Information Systems

Gerard Said Pullicino has been working at MCAST for 24 years in various capacities. He began his lecturing path teaching computer game development at Level 6 at MCAST ICT, was also involved in teaching at Level 7 as part of the MVEAR faculty, and has always been interested in using ICT to facilitate MCAST processes. His first degree was a B.Psy from the University of Malta. He also achieved a BSc. in Computing and Information Systems from the University of London and a Master’s degree in E-Learning Technology from the University of Hertfordshire. He is currently in his fifth year of reading for a Doctorate in the Competitive Behaviour of Small Organizations at MCAST. Mr Said Pullicino is also a published researcher, having contributed a number of papers in the context of AI and Image Processing. In collaboration with several other researchers, he worked on the development of a prototype system that used AI image processing to facilitate the donning and doffing process in the nursing context, and he is currently engaged in researching Large Language Models in the context of education as part of a Xjenza Malta funded project. Mr Said Pullicino also has an extensive background in MCAST Administration, having implemented multiple solutions to facilitate MCAST processes, starting with the part-time course hours contracts system. He has also worked on the website course codes and prospectus, Classter reporting for various needs within MCAST, and other data-related responsibilities that required his blend of skills. Mr Said Pullicino’s main background is in the development of software solutions and information systems that effectively leverage the power of ICT to facilitate existing processes
