Kappillanija Salesjana MCAST

The Chaplaincy Team

The Chaplaincy Team works to be a living presence of faith in the Salesian style within the MCAST community. They offer their help and services to support the students and staff in creating an MCAST that feels like home, a community that upholds positive values, a college that prepares students for life, and a space where young people feel loved and valued.

For this purpose, the Chaplaincy Team meets and works with staff and young people in classrooms, the chapel, recreation areas, and other places both on and off-campus. Through their presence, rooted in friendship and Salesian spirituality, they convey the message to the entire MCAST community that every individual is special and precious in the eyes of the Creator, encouraging everyone to practice values of honesty, justice, hope, forgiveness, friendship, respect, and generosity. As Salesians of Don Bosco, the Chaplaincy Team holds young people dear to their hearts and are always available to listen to their life experiences, whatever they may be, helping them to discover who they are, what their calling is, and that God lives in them.

Don Bosco

Don Bosco

Don Bosco is a much-loved saint who, during the industrial revolution in Italy, dedicated his life to reaching out to the abandoned youth of his time by helping them integrate into the world of work. He is credited with founding the first trade schools to provide young people with the basic skills they needed to pursue a profession. He is also known for drawing up the first apprenticeship contracts, defending young people's rights to access the labor market under fair conditions. Such cooperation between industry and education through apprenticeships is now common practice. MCAST itself is at the forefront of college-based learning and industry-based training for its students, giving them the opportunity to develop their creativity and problem-solving skills. The Salesian Chaplaincy continues to support such an innovative approach to education.

MCAST Chaplaincy - Journeying with the Young

Since 2013, the Salesians have been providing Chaplaincy services at MCAST. In the spirit of their founder, St. John Bosco, the Salesians have the welfare of young apprentices and students very much at heart and reach out to them in a friendly and cheerful manner. Like Don Bosco, they believe in the basic goodness of young people as they seek to help them reach their full potential.
