The Malta College of Arts, Science, and Technology (MCAST) kick-started the much anticipated Freshers’ Week event on campus in Paola on Monday 7 October. The student-centred event aims to bring together MCAST students, staff and lecturers to celebrate the start of the new academic year in a vibrant atmosphere.
MCAST President of the Board of the Governors Mr Horace Laudi and MCAST Principal and CEO Mr Stephen Vella met with the students, greeted them on campus and wished them all the best in their future studies.
New students who joined MCAST during the 2024/25 intake received a warm welcome this morning, during an event which helped them discover campus surroundings and experience the lively atmosphere and excitement.
The participation of various industry partners in the MCAST Freshers’, attracted hundreds of students to ask questions about their future careers, voluntary work, and future studies at the College.
Officials representing numerous industry partners from public organisations, the Public Service and private sector, are participating in this year’s Freshers’, providing the perfect networking opportunity for MCAST students, to discover more about potential career opportunities and work-based learning initiatives on offer.
Information about voluntary work, and CSR opportunities is also being provided to students by numerous local non-governmental (NGO’s) and voluntary organisations participating in this year’s Freshers’. The College provides a balanced approach between formal education through theory and compulsory practice (as apprentices or work placements) and opportunities to support the voluntary sector. Working in voluntary organisations earns students credits for their overall academic transcript and graduation, while helping in fostering positive social change.
College officials are also participating in this year’s Freshers’ providing students with information about apprenticeships, student support services, mobility and Erasmus+, stipends, equality and communication initiatives that students can participate in, promoting active participation during their journey at the College.
Freshers’ activities will be spread over five days, with activities happening at MCAST Paola from Monday, 7 October to Wednesday, 9 October 2024, the Mosta Campus on 10 October, and the Gozo Campus on 11 October.
All MCAST students are encouraged to make the most of these activities and enjoy all activities prepared by the College during this fun-packed week!
