MCAST President of the Board of Governors, Mr Horace Laudi, visited the 8th edition of the MCAST Institute for the Creative Arts (ICA) Festival at Spazju Kreattiv in Valletta. Mr Laudi was welcomed by Fondazzjoni Kreattività Executive Chairman Mr Rupert Cefai and Spazju Kreativ Artistic Director Daniel Azzopardi.
Deputy Principal Mario Cardona and College representatives toured the creative exhibitions on display, explaining the work involved and the ideas behind the creative work. ICA students also presented the festival catalogue, which outlines this year’s theme of students embracing the creative process and finding value in errors, glitches, and disruptions in their work.

Commenting on the ICA showcase, Mr Laudi said, “Visiting the MCAST ICA Festival has been an inspiring experience. The opportunity for our students to exhibit their work and collaborate with Spazju Kreattiv is invaluable. This festival highlights our community’s remarkable talent and creativity, emphasising the importance of artistic expression. Such partnerships foster a vibrant culture of innovation and collaboration, preparing our students for a dynamic and creative future.”

Around 90 youths following the MCAST Teens Summer Camp organised by MG2i also visited the festival. They toured the exhibition and participated in various hands-on activities during their visit. MCAST students following Creative Media courses at the ICA showcased their film productions to the visitors, and Fashion design students provided insights into the art of fashion design.

For the first time, the festival will run until September 8 with an extension of five weeks when compared to previous years. The institute offers various courses, from Level 1 entry-level certifications to Level 6 Bachelor’s Degrees and Level 7 Master’s Degrees. Study programmes are designed to help students flourish and land careers within the creative industry.

This year, the institute is also offering a new Bachelor’s in Animation. Interested applicants can apply to join the Institute in October 2024 by submitting an online application via the MCAST website until 14 August 2024.
The eighth edition of the MCAST ICA Festival was supported by the Arts Council Malta, Spazju Kreattiv, and VIBE FM Malta. Please visit the MCAST ICA Festival and Spazju Kreattiv’s social media pages for further information.
