The Malta College of Arts, Science, and Technology (MCAST) is currently hosting meetings related to the EU4Dual Alliance initiative on campus in Paola.
The the 1st edition of the European Dual Higher Education Conference will be held on the 10 April.
On Monday, student representatives from international Universities joined MCAST staff for outdoor team building activities.
During the first day of the initiative several work package meetings were held at MCAST. Academics from 8 different international Universities, MCAST academics, industry partners and education professionals met and discussed various themes during these meetings. Moreover, the Academic Council was launched, where senior members from nine International Universities including MCAST met together to discuss the future goals and objectives of the EU4Dual Alliance, including future collaboration and networking opportunities.
On Tuesday, student, industrial and regional consultative councils met and discussed trends within respective sectors and prospect of advancement within diverse areas. Work package meetings continued on campus in Paola.
During the third day of the programme the College hosted the 1st edition of the European Dual Higher Education Conference (EU4Dual) on campus in Paola. The conference spanned over two days will delve into the ever-evolving landscape of work and educational policies, offering a platform for visionary discussions and practical solutions.
The event kicked off with keynote speeches by MCAST Principal and CEO Professor Joachim James Calleja, Academic Vice-Rector and Coordinator at EU4Dual Prof Jon Altuna, World Association for Co-operative & Work-integrated Education (WACE) Dr Norah McRae and Mr Evarist Bartolo.
Two main themes will be discussed during the conference namely, The Future of Work and Dual Higher Education.
On Thursday the conference opened with key note speeches by EURASHE Secretary General Dr John Edwards and FRSA Education Foundation Dr Oonagh M.T. McGirr. A number of workshops were held, with participants discussing various themes including, Enhancing Vocational Learning and Employability, International Mobility and Dual Education, and Integration of Circular Economy and Sustainability in Dual Education.
