The Malta College of Arts, Science, and Technology (MCAST) awarded certificates to 25 College alumni who successfully passed the Engineering Pre Warrant Qualification Course (PWQC) on Monday, 19 February. All graduates are now eligible to apply for an Engineering Warrant.
In 2021 the Engineering Board approved the Pre-Warrant Qualification Course (PWQC), which allows MCAST alumni who successfully graduated in Engineering courses at MCAST to apply for an Engineering warrant. This was the second award ceremony that was held for students who obtained the PWQC certificate. This year the first cohort of MCAST alumni will be applying for their Engineering warrant after gaining their PWQC certificate in 2022.
Speaking during the award ceremony Minister for Education, Sports, Youth, Research and Innovation Clifton Grima congratulated all graduates and said, “MCAST is essential in delivering high-quality academic engineering programmes that are both innovative and industrially relevant to its students. We encourage all graduates to continue furthering their studies in this domain, and contribute in this industry”.
Two years ago German Agency ASIIN, renowned for evaluating standards in Engineering studies recommended the Engineering Board to approve MCAST’s Engineering course after deeming it as having the sufficient academic content to prepare graduates in obtaining an Engineering warrant.
MCAST Principal and CEO Professor Joachim James Calleja stated, “This was a very important step for our students, since it allows our Engineering graduates to successfully apply for warrants and work within the industry as fully accredited Engineers. This milestone is also important for MCAST, since it enables the College to cement itself as a main driver in contributing towards the growth of the local socio-economic sector”.
The College has also launched the new prospectus 2024/2025. Prospective students willing to join MCAST’s Institute of Engineering and Transport (IET) and follow related courses are encouraged to download the new prospectus and speak to our career guidance advisors via this email address: careerguidance@mcast.edu.mt
