The Malta College of Arts, Science, and Technology (MCAST) together with the Centre for Learning and Employability (CLE) held a certificate ceremony for participants of the ‘Community College for the Third Age’, to commemorate their achievement in completing the 2022/23 intake programme.
Key speakers during the award ceremony included MCAST Director Mr Ramon Mangion, Deputy Director Mr Duncan Vella, MCAST library Director Ms Liza Franco, and Coordinator Ms Cassandra Sturgeon Delia.
Around 40 participants that successfully completed the course were given the certificate by MCAST Principal and CEO Professor Joachim James Calleja.
During the event key speakers highlighted the benefits of active ageing, and a discussion was held to obtain feedback on how Centre for Learning and Employability (CLE) and the College can improve this programme for the next intake. Moreover, MCAST library Director Ms Liza Franco explained how the ‘Friends of the Library’ initiative, will further allow the general public to use the College’s library facilities, further enhancing the prospect of transforming MCAST into a community college for all.
This programme reflects MCAST’s ethos in enriching the community through diverse lifelong learning options. Speaking during the event Professor Calleja said, “As a College we are working to closely cooperate with public and private entities in order to build a more dynamic workforce system and to empower the individual citizen through active and lifelong learning”.
MCAST’s Centre for Learning and Employability (CLE) will once again be receiving applications next October 2023 for this programme, which will include learning sessions about different areas of interest.
