Dr. Romina Borg is the Director of the Apprenticeship and Work-Based Learning Department at MCAST and  oversees the MCAST  Stipends Office, returning to the dedicated team where her journey in the educational sector first began. She holds a Doctor of Laws (LL.D.) and has obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Notarial Studies, and a B.A. in Legal and Humanistic Studies (International Relations). She has also completed specialised courses in leadership and management.

Dr. Borg is currently serving her third term on the Board of Directors of the Central Bank of Malta (2013–2018, 2018–2023, reappointed in 2023). She also contributes to the Bank’s Internal Audit Committee and the Recognition Award Scheme Selection Panel and chairs the Committee for the Prevention of Abuse of Insider Information.

In the education sector, she has held various roles, including Chairperson and Head of Section of the Students’ Maintenance Grants Board (2013–2019), Chief Officer of the Scholarships Unit (2018), and Secretary to the Board of Governors at the Institute for Tourism Studies (2016). From 2019 to 2021, she was Data Protection Officer at the University of Malta.

Her work also included involvement in public health and sport ethics through her role on the National Anti-Doping Commission Board. She sat on several boards related to education and community initiatives, such as the Guidance Board of KPH Ltd and the Exemption from Tuition Fees at State Educational Institutions Board. At present she chairs the Work-Based Learning Operational Board.
