The Malta College of Arts, Science, and Technology (MCAST), together with the Institute of Community Services (ICS), will host a strategy meeting for the International Council for Coaching Excellence (ICCE) and Sports Coaching Europe between the 17th and the 19th of April 2023 on campus.
The College signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the International Council for Coaching Excellence (ICCE) to host the office of Sport Coaching Europe, the European continental office of the ICCE.
ICCE created its continental branch organisation Sport Coaching Europe, registered in Malta. Sport Coaching Europe (formerly European Coaching Council) is a formally established ICCE continental body for Europe. Sport Coaching Europe aims to promote the mission and objectives of ICCE and the development of coaching across Europe by providing clear reference points for coaches’ education, development, qualification, and employment.
During this strategic meeting, the ICCE Board aims to update the mission, vision, and strategies for the 2024-2028 period to best contribute to global coaching development. The current status of programmes will be discussed as a foundation for future activities. ICCE aims to complete the revised ICCE Strategic Plan for presentation to the rest of the Board and General Assembly in Singapore in December 2023.
This affiliation will also provide the perfect networking platform for students and lecturers while helping them gain an international perspective of coaching.
Currently, over 500 students are enrolled in sports-related courses at the ICS. International networking and exchange are a priority for the College to open new opportunities to students.
