On the 9th June a delegation from the Executive Council of the Chamber of Engineers visited the MCAST Institute of Engineering and Transport. The Chamber delegation which was lead by the President of the Chamber of Engineers Ing.Malcolm Zammit also consisted of the Secretary General Ing. Bonnie Attard, Treasurer Ing. Johan Psalia, and the Funding Secretary Mr Alex Tanti.
During this visit, COE council members discussed issues pertaining to the engineering profession, with members of the IET senior management team which included Ing Stephen Sammut Director IET, Ing Anthony Bartolo Deputy Director IET – Mechanical, Mr Antonino Sanfilippo – Deputy Director IET and Mr Eugenio Busuttil – Deputy director Maritime.
The focus of the discussion was on how the COE and MCAST can continue to work together for the benefit of the profession, especially the next natural step of integrating eligible MCAST students and alumni into the Chamber of Engineers as the official national body representing the profession.
Discussions also continued in order to explore possibilities for strengthening the Engineering professional training at all the levels of the Malta Qualifications framework.
The visit was concluded with a tour of IET lab facilities so that the Executive council members could review the important capital investments being conducted in the areas pertaining to Engineering and Transport.
