Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology (MCAST) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Beijing Polytechnic University to strengthen future collaboration in education, particularly in the aviation sector.

The agreement focuses on aviation studies and will provide students with opportunities to gain practical experience in the industry. It also opens the door for postgraduate collaboration, allowing students from China to continue their postgraduate studies at MCAST in Malta.

The partnership follows previous engagement between the two institutions. Last year, a second visit by Dr Stephen Sammut and Dr Stephen Vella created further opportunities for discussions and the exploration of new areas of cooperation, especially within aviation education.

During these discussions, an aerospace aviation course was highlighted. The programme combines both theoretical knowledge and practical training, giving students valuable insight into real-world aviation practices through internships and apprenticeship opportunities.

The Memorandum also includes plans for joint curriculum development. This will ensure that programmes are designed in collaboration with Beijing Polytechnic University and remain aligned with industry needs, helping students prepare for careers in the aviation workforce.

The agreement was signed by MCAST Principal and CEO Stephen Vella on behalf of the College, and by Principal Ms Xiao Ying representing Beijing Polytechnic University.

This partnership strengthens MCAST’s commitment to building strong links between education and industry, while creating mutual benefits for both institutions.
