Brief Description of organisation
The Hockey Association Malta is the governing body of the sport of hockey in Malta. It was formed in 1968 and has been organising hockey activities in Malta ever since. Hockey has been played in Malta since 1888. There are 6 principal Hockey clubs in Malta which run their own teams from Senior squads to Junior nurseries.
The Association has its own sports complex at Kordin at which competitions are organised. These range from National leagues to various tournaments as well as junior competitions. Male and female teams participate. The Maltese National team participates in International competitions.
The sport is well established and each year several overseas teams from other countries including clubs and universities visit Malta for friendly as well as for competitive tournaments. Maltese teams also participate in international tournaments. The sport is well covered in the local media and the Association has a very well followed and active Facebook page.
Hockey Association Malta offers MCAST students not only the opportunity to carry out their CSR credit but also the chance to be a part of an active community as well as an enjoyable sport and watch child and youth development programmes in action.
