Birżebbuġa Clean Up group

May 5, 2025 CSREvents

The Birżebbuġa Clean Up group was established in 2018, with assistance from Cami Appelgren of Clean Up Malta.  It is currently co-managed by Janet Camilleri and Melissa J Bagley (Senior Lecturer at MCAST).

As a voluntary group, the Birżebbuġa Clean Up group organises periodical clean-ups in the village and its environs, such as Bengħajsa, Ħal-Far, Wied il-Qoton and Qajjenza (close to Marsaxlokk).  Events last between 2 – 3 hours at a time, normally on Sunday mornings.

We provide volunteers with equipment for the clean-up events, such as trash pickers, gloves (latex and cloth), face masks, buckets and garbage bags.  Bottled water and hand sanitizer are also provided.

If you are interested, you may visit the group’s recently set-up Instagram page at www.instagram.com/birzebbuga.cleanup/ or the FB page: www.facebook.com/groups/birzebbuga.cleanup.

If you are an MCAST student, contact Melissa J Bagley (IBMC, Staffroom 2) at melissa.bagley@mcast.edu.mt to discuss how you can get involved in community work, recognized by MCAST.
